Grassroots Strategies for Policy Engagement and Advocacy

Our Grassroots Strategies for Policy Engagement and Advocacy pillar focuses on leveraging grassroots strategies to elevate and amplify the power of research and data in policy-relevant work. The primary activation of this pillar is through Research in the Streets, the official podcast of the Black Researchers Collective, which provides a platform to discuss how research and data can be used by everyday people in their daily lives. This podcast serves as an audio repository of valuable insights that communities can revisit, share, and integrate into their own work. A secondary activation includes model toolkits for nationwide distribution and implementation. Downloadable toolkits coming soon.

Listen up!
Welcome to Research in the Streets, the official podcast of the Black Researchers Collective, where we bring research from the ivory tower to the vibrant streets of our city, Chi-town! Join us as we explore how research and data can create real impact in everyday life.
In Season 1, we introduced the dynamic duo of Dr. Glenance Green—writer, researcher, poet, and community powerhouse—and Shari Runner, a passionate community advocate and lifelong Chicagoan. Together, they broke down the world of research, making complex topics both accessible and actionable. This season is all about Research in Action, specifically, what grassroots leaders and practitioners are doing with research and data on the ground and how they’re using participatory processes to build, strengthen, and sustain Chicago communities.
Tune in for lively conversations, practical insights, and a fresh perspective on how research can transform our communities. Don’t miss out on the fun! Let’s make research your new favorite subject!
