Sona Fokum
RESEARCH PROJECT MANAGER
Sona Fokum is the Research Project Manager at the Black Researchers Collective. She is a public health professional that has had a keen interest in research her whole life! She joined her first research team at 15 years old, and has delved into projects spanning internal medicine, microbiology, the opioid epidemic, and many more since. She is passionate about health and racial justice and is excited to be in this role using her skills to do research to improve Black communities. Outside of her role, she enjoys doing photography, biking, and practicing her hand at all things beauty (hair, makeup, and nails)! Sona received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago, receiving the Alan W. Donaldson award, the highest honor from the School of Public Health.
